Know Where You Live is the prototype of a data mashup that displays a range of Australian Government data based on your geographic location along with a Google satellite map and relevant photo from the Powerhouse Museum Collection, the State Records NSW or the State Library of New South Wales collection. The initial prototype was created in under 24 hours as part of the inaugural Govhack event in Canberra in October, 2009.

Cross reference Lobbyist information versus Projects from the Economic Stimulus Data versus Crime Data. Due to limitations in the Crime Dataset cross reference is limited to NSW.

The idea is to find correlation between Crime, Lobby activity and projects in the Economic Stimulus Package.

ABS In Motion

ABS In Motion consumes data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics from 1982 until 2008 for each Australian state.

The data is displayed as a Motion Chart providing a multi-dimensional, over time analysis of 20 ABS data dimensions. The Motion Chart provides a powerful way to visualise data in five dimensions: x-axis, y-axis, size of bubble, colour of bubble, and time.

ABS In Motion data categories for visualisation include: Population, Life Expectancy, Eduction Levels, Income, Employment & Unemployment levels, CPI Inflation, Retail Turnover, GDP, Export & Imports.

Rate-A-Loo

Rate-a-Loo shows the location of public toilets in the ACT. In addition to this, it allows the public to contribute information in form of quality ratings and photos to flickr of each toilet. An RSS feed is provided for each toilet – allowing those interested to be updated when new ratings are added. Its hoped that this feature may allow those maintaining the facilities to be quickly informed if maintenance is required. The facility for users to add toilets to the database will be added soon. View the toilet at Yarralumla Shops for example.
