This Mashup consumes data provided by the Australian government regarding the country’s mines. The data is processed and laid out in a map according to the geographical location of these mines. Using the filters available, the mines can be pin pointed based on the type of mineral(s) they harvest.

I had done the same thing on this website a while ago.

Could this be extended to include the operating company and a site phone number, for example? If I’m doing a sales run through the never never it would be good to be able to contact a string of mines along the way. Any further detail would be great.
Fantastic work.
@Rod – Done. Now the pop up displays associated mining companies and a link to their respective sites. But the data source doesn’t provide phone numbers I’m afraid.
If we can gather the telephone information for the sites could it then be added to the Google tag? My reading of the KMZ tags is that will only present in mobile versions.
BTW, thanks for that.
Clean and to the point, wd.
Would it be possible to have a ‘zoom to satellite image’ link like this website?
You can do the same on this too. Click the “Satellite” button on the top right corner of the map and use the zoom controls found on the left of the map to zoom in or out.

Great to see how many mines are coming up around Australia – a bit scary though
