Find the nearest public BBQ, invite your friends and have a BBQ in the park!

This is a badly and poorly designed rip off of fridge mate!
I (naturally) beg to differ. This site solely aims to find a public BBQ and includes a lot more BBQ locations (with more to come). It also includes Facebook integration for inviting your friends.
I see Fridge Mate as more of a general purpose site for discovering nearby services.
Thanks for your input.
Andrew
Hey Nice one! I’ve been watching the open gov and gov 2.0 stuff – thrilled to see people taking advantage of the data available.
What would be cool is a way for me to submit either photos of existing BBQs or maybe a way to submit new, unknown BBQs – maybe via an iphone website with safari’s built in location functionality? (Like Google latitude uses).
Anyway, great work!
Yeah, I was thinking of adding a comments section underneath each location. Maybe a photo upload feature could be incorporated into that.
And yes, user submitted locations is a great idea.
Thanks for the tips!
Good work. I like it!!
Bit disappointing to see that you have simply taken another’s entries (Fridgemate) user interface and re branded it.
Sorry you feel that way, but that is essentially the easiest way to search for location data. An input box with a search button. I’m a fan of the Fridgemate site. I’m also a fan of Google. I’m also a fan of Twitter search page. No one is accusing Fridgemate of stealing their interface.
I think the results page is different and the purpose of the site is different as well. Fridgemate is a site for providing information about local community. Meat in a Park is a site for organizing a social gathering with friends.
FYI: The site I copied the most is http://www.liftsurfer.com (a site I developed myself).
Pretty obvious trolling attempt there mate.
Great work sport! Shame there aren’t too many spots in the govs database for Tassie. I think the Facebook link is a great idea to make a collaborative bbq effort with friends that much easier.
Im working on adding more data from various council websites. More locations to come!
Andrew,
This is a great idea!
Maybe having the option of the user entering a date for the invite, that way you could maybe hook into the Yahoo Weather API to grab weather info?
Great work, I look forward to more locations
Thanks Prashant.
Yes, I was thinking that weather could be a possible new addition. I didn’t know about the Yahoo Weather API. Thanks for the tip!
New updates for the site:
- Gave it a cosmetic makeover and re-arranged some info
- Displays type of BBQ (this is included in API as well)
- Changing your location can be done by clicking on the map (easy way to quickly check nearby areas)
- Comments can be added about the location (the facebook comments widget is having some issues at the moment though )

New updates for the site:
