Rate-a-Loo shows the location of public toilets in the ACT. In addition to this, it allows the public to contribute information in form of quality ratings and photos to flickr of each toilet. An RSS feed is provided for each toilet – allowing those interested to be updated when new ratings are added. Its hoped that this feature may allow those maintaining the facilities to be quickly informed if maintenance is required. The facility for users to add toilets to the database will be added soon. View the toilet at Yarralumla Shops for example.

Hey! Love the site. I just gave it a plug on ABC radio (regional Victoria). They were interviewing me about Meat in a Park site and mentioned to em that there are other entries from serious to less serious such as Rate a Loo. YOu should try and add regional Victorian locations. Might get some visitors!

I’ll see if I can find a dataset for Victorian toilets.
Also – there is the facility for people to add new toilets to the database, so it could potentially serve any location – so long as people are active in adding toilets in their area.
Check out http://www.toiletmap.gov.au/. Not sure if its possible to get the data in a more readable format though.
I reckon you should add another map on the detail page. One thats more zoomed in and only shows the specific toilet. Theres plenty of space on the right side for that.

Thanks for the note – there have been some intermittent problems where the map points won’t load. Maybe these were caused by the javascript error you pointed out (which I just fixed).

click on a toliet then rate it then keep refreshing the page you still have the values being submitted on the post.
i suggest going to a seperate page once you hit submit.
comments don’t get submitted however rating does – is there screening for comments?
Thanks Frank. I’ve been updating the ‘About Rate-a-Loo’ page with detail of changes. There is some info here about the moderation options I’ve added. There is also a message displayed after rating that reads
