great idea and well executed Chi, is there a way for smaller cafes/businesses to announce their free wi-fi to your app? like a listing process?

Comments by group manager of "Melbourne Google Technology User Group"

<a href="http://groups.google.com.au/group/melbourne-gtug/browse_thread/thread/68d36e16587e70cf" rel="nofollow">http://groups.google.com.au/group/melbourne-gtug/browse_thread/thread/68d36e16587e70cf</a>

<blockquote>Tested on Android 1.6 on Optus 3G

Feedback:
- Great use of middleware UI. Kept thinking I was running a native app rather than browser!
- Amazing to see so many spots around Melbourne and is quite a useful tool
- Settings have great customisation. Allows the view to be uncluttered and to the user requirements.
- Key to web apps is retaining proportion to screen. It did this perfectly.
- The potential for customisation as per your roadmap looks exciting :)

One or two nibbly things:
- It was not able to detect my location via HTML5 on first try. At first I thought this was Chrome Lite issue via 3G however I found that after loading the page, giving it Gears permission, then left the page and revisited it the location detection worked correctly.
- When asking for directions, as it could not find my location it defaulted (Bourke St Mall). I was unable to change this starting location and clicking on the starting point only selected the tile. Perhaps a better behaviour might be to prompt the user to input their location manually instead.
- Refresh Me and Clear Me was broken into two parts. Maybe just 'Refresh' and 'Clear' might be clearer for the user
- Under Setting you have written 'Now Openig' instead of 'Now Opening'.

I love it :) Now if only it could find my missing sock this morning...:P

Cheers
Leon</blockquote>

Hi, you may test it on Apple "Safari 4" browser because it uses lots of HTML5 feature. e.g. client database, offline cache, geolocation service. Google Chrome is another choice but can't perform "route" function. (a bug of Google Gears in Chrome.)

I must admit I found it slightly funny that you've made an internet application to locate somewhere you can get access to the internet. :)

But I do get the point of it. I just wish I had a phone to test it with, trying it with Firefox was no joy for me.
